We Were Always Meant To Bee

Our story starts 7 years ago when we finally made the jump and decided to order our first two 3 lb packages of honey bees. I had been researching bees for a couple of years already at that point, reading any books I could get my hands on. When you order honey bees you get a general date when they will arrive. Your supplier will then call you a couple days before the bees arrive with the exact date. It just so happened that the day we picked up the bees was the same day I had my first two wisdom teeth pulled out. We went early in the morning to pick up the bees and on the way back home stopped at the dentist and he yanked two wisdom teeth out. I hived my first two colonies of bees when we got home with two less teeth, a mouthful of cotton, and bunch of bees I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with. The bees must have thought I had been through enough that day because they were far more friendly than the dentist.

The next couple years was a learning process to figure out how to take care of our bees and produce honey and make more bees. We were hooked, there was no going back to life without bees. When we reached the point of producing enough honey to sell the excess (our son consumes a couple pails a year himself) my wife and I sat down to try and decide on a catchy name to market our honey under. As we sat around the kitchen table throwing some ideas around our daughter came into the kitchen and said "Lucky is the cat and Frank is the dog and Lucky Frank sounds pretty good to me." From the mouth of a 7 year old Lucky Frank Farms was born. We would love to say we own our bees but really we just own the equipment, no one can own such a majestic and selfless creature. Our girls tolerate us, and we do everything we can to do right by them.

What We Offer.

Our honey is produced in the driftless area of west central Wisconsin. The nectar producing plants our bees visit are Basswood and locust trees as well as clover, alfalfa, aster, and goldenrod. Our honey is 100% pure raw honey. We do not heat the honey our bees produce to ensure we have the most natural product we can provide. All of the honey we sell is produced by bees that we care for. We also do all the work associated with the processing of the honey ourselves and with help from our family and a few close friends to ensure all of our products meet our standards for our customers. Our candles and wax products are all made from wax our bees produce. We also do all of our wax processing and make our candles in house to make sure we have a quality product.
