The cut of beef you put on your plate isn’t just meat. It’s a product of the land and the farming practices used on that land. At Pond Bank Farm, we believe farming the right way means taking care of the soil and taking care of our livestock. The result is a win for everyone: healthy land we can pass on to the next generation, and a superior product for our customers.

Here's How We Do It

We take care of our waterways, reducing cattle’s access and maintaining plant life for natural filtration. We want to be good neighbours to those downstream. We practice no-till farming, using cover crops to prevent soil erosion and make the land better, instead of using it up. Our management practices let us reduce chemical and fertiliser use and result in healthier soil. 

That lets us raise healthy, nutritious crops that are the primary food source for our cattle, with the goal of healthier animals and wholesome, flavourful beef. We feed our cattle a carefully designed diet to increase marbling and enhance flavour and tenderness. Most of our livestock are Black Angus, renowned for their marbling and flavour. 

What’s true for raising crops is true for the animals as well: Best practices result in the best product. We only use antibiotics when necessary, and believe good animal husbandry leads to good animal health. If we need to sell beef from other farms to meet demand, we source it from small local family farms that meet our high animal welfare standards.
